View counters. Opening a page increases a counter for that post - one per visitor per day - so the numbers on the site reflect what people actually opened.
Likes. Pressing a heart records one like for that post, tied to a random identifier described below, and counted once per post.
A random device id. Generated in your browser the first time you open the site and kept in your browser's local storage. It is not derived from your identity, not linked to your IP address in our data, and not shared with anyone. Its only purpose is to count a view or a like once.
Favorites. Kept in your browser's local storage only. They are never sent to us; clearing browser data clears them.
Server logs. The web server records requests for a short time, as any server does, including the IP address and user agent. They are used to keep the site running and secure, and are not used to build a profile of anyone.
No names, no e-mail addresses, no passwords, no payment details, no precise location, no contact lists, no biometric data - nothing that identifies you, because there is no account to put it in and no feature that would need it.
We do not sell, rent or share visitor data. There is no advertising network, no third-party analytics and no tracking pixel on this site. Nothing here is used for targeted advertising.
xRedGifs sets no advertising or analytics cookies. It uses local storage for the device id and for favorites, and nothing else. Blocking local storage breaks only those two features; the archive still works, it just cannot count your view or remember a like.
The counters exist because they are part of what the site does - showing real, current numbers instead of invented ones - and a like has to survive a reload. Where the law requires a legal basis for that, it is our legitimate interest in running the site, balanced against the fact that the data is a random string with no identity behind it.
Counters and likes stay while the post is in the archive. When a post is removed or hidden, its counters are dropped with it. Server logs are kept only as long as they are needed to operate and secure the site, and are then deleted.
The site is served over HTTPS, the database behind the counters is not reachable from the internet, and access to it is limited to the operator. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects data described here, we will say so on this page, because that is the only place we could say it - we have no address for you.
The site is hosted on servers in one country. By using it you accept that the counters described above are stored there.
xRedGifs is for adults. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18, and there is no account or form on the site that could collect it.
Because we do not know who you are, a request to access or delete "your" data usually has nothing to point at - but the rights still apply, and you have them: access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction and portability. You can also clear the device id and your favorites from your own browser at any time, after which the counters belong to nobody.
Write to abuse@xredgifs.com if you want us to look for something, or to complain. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to your data protection regulator, and we will cooperate with it.
This policy may change with the site. The version on this page is the one that applies, and it carries the date it was revised.
